A little while back we ran into the South LA artist SPEAK(Z). At the time, due to corrupt files, we believed we had lost the majority of the footage. However, we are now pleased to announce that we were able to salvage a large portion of our interview with the Los Angeles native. Among the topics covered in this interview are some of his early influences (like DipSet), progressing in the game and where fans can purchase or download his most rencent projects.

Recently one of the most viral human beings in music, RiFF RaFF, graced the Nation’s Capital with his presence. Performing to a sold out crowd at Ritual Nightclub the team had the chance to sit down with JODYHiGHROLLER right before his set. We got his story first hand – he told us some of the keys to his success and he shared some advice and some secrets of the game. We also talked about the music industry, his biggest fear and some of his upcoming projects.
After the show RiFF RaFF made his way to the studio to create and record a new track dedicated to Canada. He described it as one of his best tracks so far. In fact he appreciated it so much that he wanted to shoot a video for it immediately after.

Not too long ago the West Coast rapper/producer, Blu, was in the Nation’s Capital to bless us with his timeless underground flows. We were fortunate enough to sit back and discuss several topics with the West Coast emcee. He enlightened us on his early influences, how he started rapping, the state of hip-hop, meeting Exile, his current favourites in hip-hop, best piece of advice, his dislikes in the music industry, retiring at the age of 30 & upcoming projects.
Recently the team was networking out in California and ran into the good homey Anwar Carrots. We had the chance to sit down with Carrots at the PNCINTL office on Fairfax and chat about the movement and clothing line.

Everything has been a whirlwind for BADBADNOTGOOD ever since they met Tyler, The Creator (of Odd Future fame). The group is comprised of three young musicians: Matt Tavares (keyboard) Alexander Sowinski (drums/sampler) and Chester Hansen (bass).
This was their first show at Ritual Nightclub, and it was no doubt packed full of friends and good vibes. As the group hit the stage some even began to chant Chester’s name-Ottawa is his hometown.
The night continued on and instruments warmed up, the crowd became continually more receptive- dancing, moshing and of course crowdsurfing. None of which is really wild for Ottawa concert standards, but what is amazingly refreshing is that they did it with only instruments- something that our young generation can often been seen lacking.
We can definitely give credit to this group for reintroducing creativity to the monotonous radio airwaves by reinventing old favourites, new underground hits and the odd song from a childhood video game.
We were fortunate enough to catch up with the trio inside Reap & Sew Menswear Boutique a couple of hours before their show. Hear what they have to say about what they would be doing if they hadn’t been accepted to Humber, playing at Coachella, life in LA, Canadian shows versus American shows, thoughts on new music, reason why they canceled some tour dates and their favorite artists whom they’d like to collab with.
…and be sure not to miss your next chance to see them!
